Urban Mission Works

We’re excited to formally share with you, our Urban Mission Works program – a growing ministry of the Urban Mission! Urban Mission Works is an employment readiness and mentoring program for members of the community who experience barriers to employment.

Individuals wishing to participate in Urban Mission Works engage in the following three program components:

Hands-On Work Training: Urban Mission Works offers six 6 different work training sites for participants to engage in supervised hands-on training. Participants get to work at all 6 work training sites before completing the program. Urban Mission Works also offers training certifications in each work training site as they become available. Program participants will complete a total of 24 hours in the hands-on work training component each week.

Education: Since 2018, the Urban Mission has served as an official Jobs for Life site. Jobs for Life is a national job readiness program that focuses on the importance of finding purpose through work. Urban Mission Works utilizes Jobs for Life to address the root causes of unemployment, underemployment, and disengagement in work by teaching that self-identity is tied to one’s work. Urban Mission Works also partners with local academic sites to provide participants with an opportunity to earn post-secondary education credits. Participants will complete a total of 4 hours in the academics each week.

Personal Development & Mentoring: The personal development component of Urban Mission Works is designed to promote self-reflection and encourage group participation through weekly themes, ranging from physical health to financial health. Each participant benefits from one-on-one coaching and support through Urban Mission Works mentors. Mentors work closely with program participants to assist them in developing their own Individual Success Plan (ISP). Program participants will complete a total of 4.5 hours in personal development & mentoring each week.

If you’d like to support this program, here are a few ways to do so:
