The Urban Mission provides emergency relief for individuals and families in need of food and other essential services. Through these ministries, we seek to create a “people centric” continuum of care to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Below are the current Emergency Services offered by the Urban Mission:

Health & Hunger Services

Weekly Grocery Assistance: The Urban Mission operates a food pantry which provides emergency food and grocery assistance to more than 3,000 families each month.  Through the Fresh Market Food Pantry, guests can receive enough food to supplement their weekly needs.  Meat, fresh produce, dairy, bread, and other essential pantry items are all included in our weekly grocery assistance bags. 

Daily Hot Meals: The Urban Mission provides hot meals for our community through our Unity Kitchen.  Meals are served Monday and Wednesday from noon-1pm. A meal is also served at noon on Saturday at the Urban Mission church, located at 301 North 5th Street.

Senior Food Box Program:  For area seniors 60 years and older living in Jefferson County, the Urban Mission operates the CSFP program.  This is a need-based program and applications are necessary to join the program.

Emergency Clothes, Household Items & Toiletries

The Urban Mission provides free clothes, household items, and toiletries to individuals and families in need.  This ministry is a referral-based programs and benefits from the generosity from community members who donate clothes and other household items.
