Urban Mission Ministry Expansion

On October 17th, 2019, history was made at the Urban Mission.  What was once a dream (11+ years in the making) now became a reality when we signed the papers to purchase the Seventh Street Plaza in downtown Steubenville.  How exciting it was to make this announcement at a celebratory worship service for our 60th Anniversary a few days later!  Was it a coincidence that this previously scheduled worship service fell in line with the plaza purchase – we think not!  It was just a reminder to us from God that love never gives up, never gives in, and always trusts!

We are thankful to our tremendous and supportive community for putting love into action and helping the Urban Mission expand our ministry footprint in Steubenville and beyond. Taking ownership of the plaza means being a good neighbor to the current tenants and moving forward with our plans to renovate the attached vacant space.  We look forward to holding listening sessions with our neighbors and other community members to make sure our plans are addressing the needs of the community. Until then, the space won’t remain empty as we are already preparing to use the space to host our Christmas Toy Shop later this year.

This venture has been a test of faith, for sure, but it has only strengthened our faith as individuals and as an organization.  God moves mountains, parts the seas and can raise dead bones to life – why couldn’t God do this amazing feat too?!

As we have learned, God works through individuals like you.  Thank you for putting your faith into action, for showing us all that love still works, and reminding us that one single step of faith can lead to an incredible journey!
