Urban Mission Ministry Expansion

If you haven’t already heard, the Urban Mission is planning to expand our ministry footprint to a vacant space in downtown Steubenville. It is our goal to create a hub for the community to participate in a broad range of programs that provide healthy food, foster social connections, build work related skills and promote civic engagement.

Since the launch of our fundraising campaign earlier this year, we have received a tremendous amount of support from our community to make this dream a reality!  In fact, we are closer than we’ve ever been before to pursuing what we believe is the next faithful step for the Urban Mission.  As of this month, we have achieved 70% of our goal to purchase the former Save-A-Lot/Treasure Island building located on 7th Street in downtown Steubenville.

We’re calling this entire project, the Fresh Start initiative.  As a part of this initiative, we have already launched a series of programs which we plan to operate out of the plaza once we take full ownership.  These programs include basic life skills, vocational training courses, and job readiness classes.  Already we have seen lives impacted by this new approach to help individuals break out of the cycle of poverty and begin living an abundant life.

As we prepare to purchase this building and a make a significant contribution to the revitalization of Steubenville and the Ohio Valley, we are coming to you to ask that you help us reach our final goal.  Perhaps you have been looking for a ministry opportunity to support?  Or maybe you know a friend or a neighbor who might be interested as well?

There are multiple ways to give. You may mail a check to Urban Mission, 301 North 5th St. Steubenville, Ohio, 43952 with “Fresh Start” in the subject line. You can also donate online.

To personalize your giving experience, you are welcome to call Rev. Ashley Steele at (740) 282-8010/e-mail asteele@urbanmission.org.

Thank you for your support! We believe this opportunity has the potential to impact the lives of thousands of individuals throughout the Ohio Valley.
