Homeless Services

The winter months are here and the Urban Mission remains committed to serve our community’s homeless population during this time.

Here are some ways you can get involved this winter to help our community’s most vulnerable.

  1.  Pray for area families who find themselves sleeping outside, in shelter, or in their cars during the coldest months of the year.
  2. Donate new or gently used clothes, toiletries and other household items to the Urban Mission Hutton House Homeless Shelter.  All donations can be dropped off at 301 North 5th Street in Steubenville.
  3. Volunteer with the Homeless Coalition of Jefferson and Harrison Counties to help provide additional resources to our friends without shelter.  To find out more, please call Ms. Calene Dougherty at 740.282.8010.
  4. Participate in ongoing renovations at the Urban Mission’s War Memorial Building which will house up to 15 homeless women and children.  To volunteer, contact Ms. Cynthi Lytle at 740.282.8010.
