Community Survey

Did you know that fewer than half of American adults know most or all of their neighbors?  A recent survey from the Pew Internet & American Life Project found that when respondents were asked if they knew the names of the neighbors who live close to them, 19% of adults said they knew all of their neighbors. Another 24% said they knew most of their neighbors. This left the majority of American adults knowing only some (29%) or none (28%) of their neighbors by name. At the Urban Mission, we believe in the power of community. We also believe there is no better way to experience that, than by sharing a meal together. After months of hard work, cleaning and organizing, the Urban Thrift and Opportunity Center is open!  We are so thankful to all of the volunteers whose dedication to our mission made it possible. We’re ONE month in & thriving! We’ve been getting some great questions that we wanted to share with you.   Where is Urban Thrift located? 644 Market Street, Steubenville, Ohio.  It’s the beautiful white building on the corner of Market & 7th Street.   When are we open? Our store is currently open Mon. – Wed., 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.  We’ll expand our days and hours in the coming months.
